1969 Les Paul Custom Black Beauty. The second year since the model was reintroduced in 1968 after being replaced in 1961 with the SG body shape, but with a lot of firsts:
First year for the small headstock volute, first year for the transitional neck tenon, and first year for the “pancake” style body. This piece has an obvious but solid neck repair that has been stable for 30+ years. Replaced tuners, bridge, tailpiece and plastics, but retains the original patent sticker humbuckers and electronics, minus the pickup covers. Beautiful natural checking in the original ebony finish throughout that those historic “aged” reissues can’t quite seem to capture.

Please note that there is a repaired neck break in addition to normal wear and tear.
